Ali Mahmoud Othman, known among his friends as "Jeddo" (Grandfather), is a citizen journalist from the media office of Baba Amr, the most active office in the country. He was seized by Syrian regime forces in Aleppo, where he had been forced to flee. Othman has been instrumental in assisting those covering the conflict in Homs and in helping evacuate international journalists from inside the neighborhood of Baba Amr. His friends and colleagues believe he is being subjected to severe torture.
