The blogger in question was arrested by the Police on charges of having used the internet to threaten President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, police said. No information was provided on the nature of the threat, and online searches did not point to any material that could be termed "threatening".

They said Gayan Rajapakse was arrested while he was hiding in a house near the Aluvihara Sacred Area and produced in Court and remanded till Friday.
