Hamoud Al Rashidi is a writer who was arrested on June 8, 2012 and sentenced on July 9, 2012 to six months in prison and a fine of 200 rials for publicly insulting Sultan Qaboos. He was convicted under Article 126 of Oman's Criminal Law, which punishes "defaming His Majesty the Sultan or his authority publicly."
