After the Sichuan earthquake in 2008, Huang Qi worked as volunteer in for the disaster release and provided assistance to the parents who had lost their children because of the "bean dreg school building construction". He also exposed the issue on his website "64 Tianwang". On June 10th, Huang was abducted by a car when having dinner with his friends. On June 16, Huang's mother received an arrest notice that Huang would be prosecuted under the charge of "illegal possession of state secret".
