Jean Laokolé, a Chadian blogger and writer, was arrested on March 22, 2013 by members of the security forces in N'Djamena, the Chadian capital. “He was arrested by a group of men in civilian clothes while he was driving with his family,” reports Internet Without Borders in a petition released on April 9, 2013, calling for the blogger's “immediate and unconditional release.” Ever since his arrest the blogger was held without trial in an undisclosed location.

Jean Laokolé contributed under a pseudonym to http://makaila.over-blog.com/, one of Chad's most popular blogs.

In his articles, M. Laokolé denounced corruption, poor governance and nepotism in his country.
