The UAE department of e-government services managed to access the majan.net forum’s control panel looking for registrants email addresses who anonymously published comments deemed defamatory. And it seems that this has led to the arrest, on August 19th, of a forum registrant, Khaled El Asli. Khaled was sent to trial on charges of slandering a local official on the same website. On August 23th, the judge ordered his release for lack of evidence.
