Blogger Nguyen Ngoc Nhu Quynh was arrested on August 28, 2009. Quynh, who blogs under the pseudonym "Me Nam" criticized the ruling Communist party in entries posted in her blog (http://menam0.multiply.com/) on August 26, and criticized a mine project being managed by a Chinese company. Like Bui Thanh Hieu and Pham Doan Trang, Quynh's arrest was due to her writings criticizing China. The Vietnamese authorities announced at the start of the year that bloggers would henceforth be restricted to blogging about personal matters.
